FAQs – Victorian Energy Upgrades Program

There are two main types: integrated systems and split systems. Integrated units combine the heat pump and storage tank into one compact unit, making installation simple and space-saving. Split systems separate the compressor and the tank, allowing more flexibility in placement and potentially offering better efficiency.

Heat pump hot water systems use approximately 60–75% less electricity than conventional electric storage systems. This is because they operate by powering a fan and compressor rather than heating water directly, making them a far more energy-efficient and cost-effective solution.

Heat pumps rely on ambient air to operate efficiently—much like a split-system air conditioner. For this reason, they need to be installed in a well-ventilated outdoor space to ensure proper airflow and optimal performance.

No problem! If you’re not certain about your eligibility, simply get in touch with our friendly Aussie GreenSaver team. We’ll arrange for an assessor to inspect your existing system and advise on the best upgrade options available through the program.

The PTR valve is a crucial safety feature designed to release excess pressure or temperature from your hot water system. It’s recommended to open the valve every six months to ensure it's functioning correctly and to detect any signs of wear or malfunction early.

We live in a townhouse with limited outdoor space, and the Aussie GreenSaver team did a brilliant job installing our new system. Despite the tight layout, they managed to fit the outdoor compressor neatly without any issues. A complex install made to look easy—very happy with the outcome and the performance of our new setup.
